The F-35 Lightning II, also known as the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, is a single-seat, single-engine, all-weather stealth fighter that has just been declared operational by three branches of the U.S. Department of Defense. The fifth generation combat aircraft is designed to perform ground attack, aerial intelligence and air defense missions. The F-35 has three main models: the F-35A conventional takeoff and landing version used by the Air Force, the F-35B short take-off and vertical-landing (STOVL) version used by the Marine Corps, and the F-35C carrier-based version that will be used by the Navy.

The F-35 is a A 5th Generation fighter with advanced stealth, exceptional agility and maneuverability, sensor and information fusion.  The F-35 has network-enabled operations allowing multiple aircraft to communicate with each other in flight. 5th Generation technology provides greater survivability, situational awareness, and effectiveness for pilots, as well as improved readiness and lower support costs. As a true 5th Generation fighter, the F-35 has stealth designed in as part of the aircraft from the beginning.

is the show wheelchair accessible? Are lawn chairs allowed for all participants or only for disabled participants? thank you

    • NY Air Show says:

Lawn chairs are welcome for all guests in our general admission area – and yes, the show is wheelchair accessible, though we do forewarn guests that while the show itself is on concrete, the parking lot is grass.

    • NY Air Show says:

1L of water per person is just fine, but no other outside food or beverage is allowed – we will have vegetarian options on site as well as vendors without cross-contamination of nut products.

  2. James H. Miller Jr. says:

i will be attending the show with a walker due to an unfortunate accident will there be a location where I can sit and watch the show or will I be required to stand as some shows require. I was not allowed to bring my walker at a new jersey show but was allowed to bring a lawn chair. thank you

  3. John Spinosa says:

I saw the F22 couple years ago. Seems to be a lot more jets this.. Let’s be honest that’s why we go!!!

  4. Gary Hoeper 570-559-7457 says:

Can, and will this version of the F-35 perform vertical take off, and landing’s at the air show?

    • NY Air Show says:

The F-35 will not be able to do landings because of the nature of the show demonstration space, but will be running through the paces for spectator enjoyment!
