Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are the hours of the event?
    Gates open each day at 9 am and close at 5 pm.  Flight performances take place from noon to 4 pm.
  • What time does the Flight Line Club VIP and Corporate Chalets open?
    10 am each day.
  • Can I go in and out of the event?
    Re-entry to the event is not allowed.
  • Will the schedule be the same both days?
    Mostly. Performers are scheduled to perform both days unless noted otherwise on the Performer page.
  • Will the static displays be open all day or do they close when the air performances start?
    Static displays will be open from 9am – 5pm including during flight performances.
  • What is the benefit of purchasing parking in advance?
    Pre-paid parking is discounted 25% off the day-of-event rate and permits are print-at-home.
  • Do Flight Line Club VIP tickets include parking?
    YES, each Flight Line Club VIP ticket purchase includes a VIP parking permit for a special on-field lot adjacent to the West Entrance to the Event Site.
  • What is not allowed onto the air show grounds?
    Coolers, outside food and beverage, canteens, camelbacks, weapons of any kind, tent structures, self-standing umbrellas and pets are all prohibited.  If you arrive to the front gate with these items, you will be directed by security to return them to your car or to discard them in a trash receptacle.
  • Can I bring a cooler with snacks and drinks to the show?
    NO. Due to numerous security regulations, outside coolers and food/beverage are NOT allowed into the event. Spectators will be allowed to bring 1 sealed bottle of water per person, no larger than 1 liter in size. If a patron has special medical dietary restrictions, items will be allowed in reasonable quantities if accompanied by a doctor’s note. You will be asked to present your doctor’s note to security upon entry to the event.
  • Can I bring an umbrella?
    Personal, handheld umbrellas will be allowed into the event. Self standing umbrellas and tent structures are strictly prohibited due to safety.
  • Can I bring sunscreen?
    Sunscreen will be allowed into the air show and its use is highly recommended.
  • Are backpacks allowed?
    Backpacks are allowed and will be subject to security inspection upon entrance into the air show.
  • Are cameras and video recorders allowed?
    Yes, feel free to take as many photos/videos as you would like and share them with us on social media.
  • Are there restrooms available?
    Port-a-Potties are available throughout the show, including in designated VIP and general admission areas.
  • Can I bring a wagon for my kids?
    Wagons without a canopy will be allowed into the air show.
  • Are pets allowed entry to the show?
    Due to concerns for the safety of attendees and animals, no pets will be allowed onto the show site unless they are service animals.
  • Is there going to be food & drink for purchase at the event?
    Various food & beverage items will be available inside the event site including beer, prices range from $3-$15.
  • Will food and beverage available for purchase be cash only? Will credit cards be accepted?
    Food and beverage vendors will accept both cash and credit.
  • Will Vegetarian/Vegan/Gluten-Free food options be available for purchase?
    Our food & beverage concessionaire makes every effort to ensure menu items are suitable for all guests. Should you have a food allergy or sensitivity, please make sure you bring along a doctor’s note.
  • I have a toddler, can I bring diapers and his/her food?
    Diapers will be allowed into the air show. Baby food, formula, breast milk, etc. are allowed in reasonable quantities. Please present your items for inspection upon entry into the event.
  • Is smoking/vaping allowed in the air show?
    NO, remember, we are at an airport and smoking/vaping is not allowed anywhere on the airfield. Smoking/vaping in the show site will be cause for ejection from the event site and confiscation of vapes, cigarettes and/or lighters.
  • How do I become a food vendor at the air show?
    Please reach out to info@air.show.
  • Do you recommend ear protection for children?
    Ear protection is not required, but is recommended.
  • How do I request media credentials?
    Please contact our Director of Public Relations, Chris Dirato at pr@air.show no later than 2 weeks prior to the show.  Only credentialed media are eligible for media credentials to the event.  If you are not credentialed media and want to take photos at the show check out the Photo Pit.
  • What are your preferred hotels?
    Our Where-to-Stay page features the hotels where the pilots and teams are staying.
  • Where is the entrance to the event and how do I get there?
    The main entrance of the event is located at 1180 1st Street, New Windsor, NY 12553. For more info and directions visit out Getting There page.
  • Where is Parking located?
    Please refer to our Getting There page.
  • How much is Parking?
    Parking is $15 if purchased in advance or $20 at the event.
  • Are there shuttles to transport back and forth from the venue and parking lot?
    Yes, shuttles will be available to transport attendees to and from the remote parking lots. Walking distance lots will offer shuttles for handicapped only.
  • Is there motorcycle parking?
    Yes, upon your arrival, please tell parking attendants you would like to park on a hard surface in the Yellow Lot and they will direct you there.
  • Is there RV parking?
    Yes, upon your arrival, please tell parking attendants you would like to park your RV in a surface paved lot
  • Can I ride my bicycle to the air show? If so, where can I park?
    Yes, you can ride your bicycle to the air show. You will be able to park and lock up your bicycle in all official air show parking lots
  • Can bicycles be ridden into the air show?
    Bicycles are not allowed on air show grounds.
  • Can I camp at the show?
    Camping is not allowed at the airport, but there is a KOA Campground in Newburgh: http://koa.com/campgrounds/newburgh/
  • Do you have any special provisions for the handicapped?
    All public areas of the air show are ADA handicapped accessible. For guests with accessibility challenges, we recommend bringing a wheelchair or walker, as the show is located on an airfield and there will be some distance involved from the gates to the seating area.
  • Will wheelchairs or scooters available for rent at the event?
    Wheelchairs and scooters will not be available for rent, but you are more than welcome to bring your own.
  • Is handicapped parking available?
    Handicapped parking will be available in all official air show parking lots. If required, shuttle service will be available to accommodate wheelchairs with service to and from the entrance of the air show.
  • Where is handicapped parking located?
    Handicapped parking is available in every official air show lot with shuttle transport to and from the entrance of the air show.
  • What is included in the price of admission?
    General admission gets you access to the event grounds from 9am-5pm.  Flight Line Club VIP admission gets you access to the event grounds from 9am-5pm and access to the Flight Line Club starting at 10am.
  • Do I need to bring my own chairs or can I purchase/rent a chair there at the event?
    You must bring your own chairs for the General Admission area. No chairs will be available for purchase/rent on site. Should you like a seat to be reserved for you, we recommend purchasing the Preferred Seating ticket level.
  • Is there assigned seating in the Flight Line Club VIP Club?
    Seating is not assigned in the Flight Line Club.  There will be enough seats for all ticket holders.
  • Will tickets be available at the gate on the day of the show?
    Flight Line Club VIP typically sells out in advance of the show.  General admission tickets will be available for purchase at the gate.
  • Do you have senior citizen, military, student or other discounts?
    We offer a discount to everyone when you purchase your tickets in advance either online or by phone.
  • If I purchased tickets for Saturday can I use them on Sunday instead?
    You cannot use your Saturday ticket for Sunday or vice versa. If you would like to change the date of your ticket, please reach out to our box office by telephone at 877.766.8158 or email at newyorkairshow@completeticketsolutions.com.
  • Can I present my tickets on my cell phone?
    You will be able to present your tickets for entry into the air show on your cell phone. If you purchased a parking pass in advance, please make sure it is printed and visible to parking and traffic attendants.
  • I purchased my tickets in advance, but have not received them, what do I do?
    Contact our box office by telephone at 877.766.8158 or email at newyorkairshow@completeticketsolutions.com and they will be able to assist you.
  • I lost my tickets, what do I do?

  • What is your rain policy?
    In the event of non-authorized intervention, weather or other causes beyond our control, the event may be terminated or suspended and tickets are non-refundable. If the event is cancelled in its entirety on Saturday due to weather, tickets will be honored on Sunday. If the event is cancelled in its entirety on Sunday or for the weekend due to weather, tickets will be refunded or honored at the 2019 event.

    We were very frustrated trying to leave the preferred parking lot today. There seemed to be no reason we couldn’t have been sequenced in with the shuttle busses. Instead we sat for nearly 45 minutes. We would have been better off of we hadn’t paid for the upgrade and just taken the shuttle to normal parking.

      Hey Eric, sorry for the frustrating parking experience. One of the challenges with the Preferred Parking area was that we were required to have guests wait until the Thunderbirds landed before we could release that area. We’re already discussing how we can move some things around in 2019 to make that a smoother experience for everyone. We appreciate you giving us your feedback so we have a chance to make it better in the future!

    Myself & some military veterans will be attending the Army vs. Hawaii football game at West Point. this Sat.9/15/18. The game starts at noon & goes til 3pm or so. Is there any flyby over the West Point Academy football stadium? If not, can we request one. It’s a very short distance from Stewart Airfield to the West Point Academy by air, the Thunderbirds could probably get there in a minute or 2. This is a serious request for the patriotic fans, cadets, and players that could really make an incredible impression.

      Hey Daryl, it provides admission to the show and a specific tent just for guests of our performers. When you get past the main gate, just follow the signage to the “Friends of the Air Show” area. There is seating there for you.

    Hi! Our family purchased 8 VIP tickets and we only received one VIP parking pass. We do not have a vehicle that can fit 8 passengers. Can we purchase a second VIP parking pass? Are we allowed to drop off a few family members and come back and park? Thank you for your help!

    hi i am traveling from new york city via the metro north . will there be buses available to take me to the airport. i have been looking and havent found an answer.

      Hey Al, our show doesn’t have the ability to provide buses from the metro station up to the airport, but you might check with the local county to find out if there is any type of public transit that runs. In addition, a lot of guests hop an Uber or Lyft to get from the metro stop to the airport!

    If your a veteran and you want to purchase tickets at shop rite, do you have to show an I.D.?
    Also the tickets that are flight line vip for $179 , is that for one person only?

      Hey Daniel, yes, I believe that they do ask that you have an ID of some sort to show your military service when you buy in person at the local ShopRite locations. The Flight Line Tickets are $179 per person, and are all-inclusive of food, drink, seating, shade, private restrooms and additional amenities.

    Is this a for profit or non-profit event? Who benefits from the money collected for tickets and parking? Curious-can’t figure this out from the website. Thanks.

      Hey HK, a for-profit company runs the show and manages all of the necessary expenses like facility rentals, permits, tents, chairs, paid performers, food vendors, staff management, etc., but we are thankfully assisted by a wonderful volunteer team of hundreds to make the show happen. A lot of people expect the show to be free, probably not thinking about the fact that it takes a LOT of money to put such a large-scale, multi-faceted event on! We also work with the generous support of NY Stewart International Airport, the Port Authority, and all of the great folks that work for the surrounding City and County government entities to bring tourists to the air show and support the many local businesses that are helped by the event. And at the end of it all, proceeds then benefit the work of our air and space foundation to assist kids to receive access and education on aerospace and aeronautics.

        Thanks for the info! I wasn’t asking because I thought the show should be free. I was asking because the Orange County Executive sent out a mailing about the show and I wanted to make sure that our tax dollars weren’t being used to promote a for profit event. Happy to know that any proceeds will be used for educational purposes.

    My daughter has a severe peanut allergy, we usually bring our own food for her. Do you know if the food vendors will have an peanut free option OR should we just bring something and show the guards the epi-pen when entering?

      Hey Ralph, yes, please do bring your daughter’s own food, and if you’d just bring a doctor’s note along (or even the prescription for the epipen) that would be fine! I don’t know that our food vendors can guarantee no cross-contamination given the volumes of food with which they are working, so we’d just rather be safe than sorry when it comes to our guests with food allergies.     I purchased vip tickets and I will be needing to bring a wagon for my mother to carry some items. Will there be somewhere to keep the wagon, never did vip before. Also since she is a diabetic and just had heart surgery she is on a specific diet does the doctors note just need to say that? Can she put her items in a soft insulated cooler to stay for the day? Thank you in advance!

      Hey Jessica – great questions! So a small wagon without a canopy would be fine, just ask our volunteers in the VIP area to find a place where we can safely store it when it’s not in use so that we can ensure clear walkways for all our guests. The doctor’s note just needs to note that she is diabetic, and yes, you may bring a small soft cooler with her insulin and small snacks. We do ask that you just bring enough for what she needs for the day! If you have any follow-up questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at info@air.show.

    We are flying out of Stewart on Saturday night to Ireland, is the parking for the show different from where we would long term park?

      Hey Veronica, yes, parking for the air show is out in a field separate from the long-term parking at the airport. You should be just fine, but you can contact the Airport if you have any follow-up questions.

    I am flying in for the event and will be parking my plane at Signature Air. They said transportation is available from the Port Authority building next to the Signature Air directly to the air show. Is that correct? Will I be able to get transportation directly to the entrance gate for the air show using transportation available at the Port Authority?

      Yes, but you should check with NY Stewart International Airport about times where there are flight restrictions before your arrival.

    I just recently learned about the show and was excited to make a day trip to see it. I am concerned that only two performers are listed and that whatever additional performances which might be scheduled are available only after purchasing tickets.

    Every other air show I’ve attended (all of which were on military bases) has published their lineup well in advance. The deviation from the norm has me wondering if I should attend.

    Can you explain the decision not to reveal a show line up? If not, would you please let us know what we are going to see? The current tactic of only revealing the lineup to ticket holders doesn’t build anticipation nearly as well as it builds doubt.

      Hey Len, we have our full line-up with more than a dozen performers on our performer page, which are available to the public. The only thing behind the password-wall is the specific schedule. Both Saturday and Sunday have the same performers, so the public is not missing out on any information that is not readily available on who is going to be there.

        I don’t understand why the schedule needs to be password protected but I have three photo pit passes for Sunday and never received a password on any of my orders so I can’t access the schedule. Additionally, any chance additional military fighter jets will be added in the air? The show seems a bit “light” compared to prior years.

    What alcoholic beverages besides beer will be served? As for food, can you tell me what options there will be? Salads? Chicken?

      Hi Amy, for general admission, there will be food vendors selling a variety of bbq, hamburgers, hot dogs, etc. For Flight Line Club, the menu is available on the website page. Beer and wine will also be available for purchase, in addition to non-alcoholic Coke products.

      Hi there – so the gates open at 9 am, where guests can come in and check out our static displays. That’s your opportunity to get up close and see the airplanes! The aerial show runs from about noon to four PM, as noted above in the FAQ section. Please see above section on exemptions for outside food.

    Have a flight from Stewart scheduled for the 16th at 2PM, will we have e a problem accessing the regular handicapped parking. How early shud we plan to get to the airport as the international drive is open for both air show and flight passengers?

      While it’s generally recommended to have an ID on you at all times for safety reasons, no, there should not be a reason he would need an ID to come see the show.

    Does everyone need to get on a shuttle after they park? Two years ago we had to wait in long lines and collapse our double stroller to put on a bus with our babies and supplies which was very cumbersome and almost impossible to hold them and carry stuff onto bus. Is it possible to park anywhere and just walk??

      Hi Laura, the air show is at NY Stewart International Airport, not the base. We do have security at the gate and positioned throughout the show to ensure all our guests are safe and follow all guidelines placed upon us by the airport for everyone’s safety. I suspect that your best bet would be to check in with his parole officer on whether he thinks it’s a good idea for him to attend the show.

    Would we be able to go general admission area until the show starts and then go to our prefered area seats?

      Hey Christopher, yes the general admissions area is open to the public, so you can come and go from that area as you please. Same goes for all the static displays and food vendors and such. Then when the show starts you can return to the preferred seating area.

      Hey Emily, the Preferred Seating is an enclosed area that is available to ticketed guests only. There will be a restroom area and designated food tent inside the area specifically for those guests, along with tented seating. The preferred seating themselves is set up in rows in an open area right on the edge of the tarmac, near to show center, so you will have a designated seat in a specific row, which you can choose when you purchase your preferred seating tickets. You’ll receive a wristband to come in and out of hte area to go check out the static displays and other parts of the air show as you’d like. Preferred seating prices do include parking as well in the cost. Let us know if you have any follow-up questions!

      Hi Cat, yes, that shouldn’t be a problem, but they should plan for extra traffic on the way into the airport depending on what time your flight arrives.

    I purchased a photo pit access for Sunday and reading the comments on this page it looked like I needed to purchase a separate ticket to get in the event. I purchased it and I only received the photo pit access again and no entry ticket. Do I need both and if not why didn’t I get my entry ticket?

    So I would need a note from my doctor stating that I am allergic to certain ingredient is that correct. in order to bring my own snacks.

      Hey Diana, the EpiPen is an absolute yes; no worries there! Yes, do please bring a note from your doctor just noting the allergy that you have so that our security workers at the front gate know that it’s okay. Thanks for double-checking with us.

    Logistics question. We are ticketed for the Flight Line Club and noticed that gate doesn’t open until 10:00. We are traveling from the Albany area and would appreciate any guidance you can provide about optimal arrival time(s) to get in line and best access route(s). I accept that the crowd will be very large and want to avoid spending hours waiting for parking.

      Hey John, thanks for being a Flight Line Club member! Yes, we do recommend getting there early – VIPs have a separate parking area, so you shouldn’t have too big a deal with the lines. In addition, you have a separate entrance, so will be able to get in fairly easily. You can get in to look at the static displays starting at 9 am, it’s just the flight line club entrance itself that doesn’t open until 10, giving your private caterers enough time for set-up. We recommend getting there anytime between 9 to 10, because there will be a lot to see and do, but even if you get there after 10 you will be just fine! Show starts at 12.

      You should be fine on parking, though we recommend getting there no later than midday to ensure you are able to see the whole show, which runs from noon to four.

      Hey Johnathan, you can arrive any time that you like between the hours of 9 am and 4 pm. Seating in the general admission area is first-come, first-serve, so if you arrive around noon, you may not have the best view, but you’ll still be able to see everything just fine! If you go with the preferred seating area, a seat will be reserved for you, so you don’t even have to worry about what time you arrive. Let us know if you have any follow-up questions!
